Nicolas Cage is to star as Joe Exotic in a brand new TV show.
The eight-part mini-series will focus on the eccentric zookeeper made famous by Netflix's Tiger King documentary.
This will be the Oscar-winner's first television role. Cage will also serve as an executive producer, according to Variety.
Nicolas is best known for his roles in Leaving Las Vegas, Moonstruck, Raising Arizona, The Rock, and Con Air.
About The Series
The show will be based on the Texas Monthly article Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into The World Of A Man Gone Wild, by Leif Reigstad.
American Vandal showrunner Dan Lagana will reportedly write the script. It's understood Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios will produce the series.
Tiger King Netflix Documentary
Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, And Madness was released on Netflix in March.
The documentary follows a number of big cat owners in the US. These include Joe Exotic, 'a mulleted, gun-toting polygamist who presides over an Oklahoma roadside zoo'.
Things take a dark turn when Carole Baskin, an animal activist and owner of a big cat sanctuary, threatens to put them out of business.
Joe Exotic is currently serving a 22-year prison sentence for plotting the murder of Baskin.
