What could have been!
Eric Stonestreet, who played the part of Cam in Modern Family, has admitted he found it hurtful that a spin-off show featuring Cam & Mitch was rejected by the network.
The 53 year old actor revealed on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast that he and his on-screen partner Jesse Tyler Ferguson were initially going to have their own show.
He revealed that Christopher Lloyd, along with some of the show's other writers, had come up with a fully-fledged script for a spin off show featuring Cam & Mitch as the leads.

“Chris Lloyd and a couple of the writers wrote a really great script that spun Jesse and I off in our life in Missouri, and they said, 'No,'" he explained.
“They just said, "We don’t want to do it,"' he added.
Eric also revealed that he thought the network threw out the project because they saw him and his costar Jesse as '"old guys."
“I think Jesse and I maybe felt like they thought of us as the old guys, or something like that, that didn’t seem worthy of keeping those characters going.”
“It felt a little hurtful. But people make business decisions,” the actor added diplomatically.
It’s not all negativity for the Modern Family gang however, as Eric revealed that a reunion could soon be on the cards.
"I wish we’d do a Christmas special, and there’s been talk of that," he said.
Now that would be a no-brainer - make it happen people!
