Dublin film Sing Street has been shortlised for Best Motion Picture at the Golden Globes. It goes up against movies like Dead Pool and La La Land
Colin Farrell, Ruth Negga and Catriona Balfe are among the Irish nominated for actor awards.
The Arts Minister, Heather Humphries said "It is fantastic to see Irish talent like Colin Farrell, Ruth Negga and Caitriona Balfe up for major awards."
The Golden Globes are often seen as an indication of who may get nominated for an Oscar next month.
Heather Humphries admitted that “This year’s Golden Globe nominations list includes a strong Irish presence, which underlines the fact that 2016 has been a very good year for the Irish film industry."
