Finding Derek
Some readers may find this story upsetting.
Kate Garraway's husband Derek was admitted to hospital last March with covid and hasn't been home since.
More than a year on, documentary Finding Derek is set to air on ITV tomorrow night.
This morning a segment of the programme has been released, detailing an extremely difficult phone call between the couple.
It was last November when Kate rang Derek via Facetime on his iPad.
Heartbreakingly, Derek told his wife, "Kate, there’s no way out. There’s no way out. I’ve got to the point where I just think f*** it. Just f*** it.

"As in die?,' Kate asks.
"Yes... I don’t know how to cope, I don’t know how to cope," Derek responded.

"You don’t know how to cope with it. OK, Kate went on.
"I know you feel like you’re trapped in your head and it’s terrifying. But you’re coming home, you’re coming back to your life and you will be the person, even better than you were before. You will be.
"I will find a way to make it better. I promised you that I would save you and I’m going to save you, I will find a way, but you just have to hang in there."

Last week Kate shared the first photo of her husband Derek in over a year.
While he has been free from the virus since last summer, Derek developed a number of complications.
Covid caused him kidney failure, liver damage, bacterial pneumonia, and pancreas and heart failure.
Finding Derek airs at 9pm on ITV on Tuesday, 23rd March.
