It's been revealed that the theme of this year's show is The Jungle Book. So, we can expect great songs such as The Bare Necessities and I Wanna Be Like You to appear in the opening number, which is going to bigger and better than ever before.
"The opening sequence this year will be a big, mammoth production," says host Ryan Tubridy. "It's The Jungle Book. It's jazzy, it's brassy, it's sassy, and it's the most colourful of all the openings I can recall.
"The set's great, the music – you know the songs – you'll all be able to sing along and tap your feet. It's magnificent.!
Meanwhile, the show's producer Katherine Drohan said: “This year’s opening number is the most ambitious we have ever staged. More than 60 students from IADT Dun Laoghaire are working on special pieces to feature in the opening of the show.
Ryan says the Toy Show team has been working tirelessly:
"It is absolutely enormous. We have a small but dedicated team devoted to putting the show together and then,on the night itself, it is all hands on deck with people from all departments across RTE television getting involved. They set up the goal, running around the pitch and I hang around the goal-line waiting to nod the ball in."
"The fact that it is available to watch free across the world means that Irish emigrants get a chance to connect with their home in a way that is absolutely unique to us as a people.
"Nobody else would understand what this bonkers show is about!"
