A TV special based on Adnan Syed's case will air later this month. Adnan’s story dominated the first series of Serial, which uncovered new evidence. Season 1 of the podcast has been downloaded almost 70 million times.
The then-teenager was convicted of the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee. 17 years after Adnan's original trial, witness Asia McClain is being called to testify as part of the Investigation Discovery documentary.
The TV will re-examine the story and delve into the new evidence currently being considered by the Maryland court to grant him a re-trial.
