According to a synopsis from Netflix, the “jaw-dropping” documentary will feature “first-hand testimony and revelations from show insiders,” as well as interviews with producers and former guests who help uncover “a murkier picture” of The Jerry Springer Show and “the destruction it caused.”
Fights, Camera, Action promises to raise “renewed questions about who was responsible, and how far things should go in the name of entertainment.”
Airing in 1991 and running for 27 seasons right up until 2018, The Jerry Springer Show became popular due to its trashy, unfiltered approach to controversial topics.
The guests were often unruly, get into screaming matches and physical altercations, and have to be broken up by security.
It also became a trend for women in the audience to lift up their tops for “Jerry Beads,” Mardi Gras-style necklaces with the show’s logo.
The series was slated by critics, with TV Guide deeming it the worst TV show of all time in 2002.
However this review didn’t faze Jerry Springer, who began introducing the program as the “worst TV show of all time”
Jerry Springer: Fights, Camera, Action is coming to Netflix on the 7th of January 2025.
