Top Gun: Maverick continues to break box office records.
The sequel collected $156 million in the first four days of its release, becoming the biggest Memorial Day opening in history in the US.
It replaced Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End previously holding the title after it achieved $153 million in 2007.
Internationally, the sequel took in $248 million.
It is also the biggest opening weekend for Cruise in his 40 year career, since Steven Spielberg's War of the World was released in 2005 at $64 million.
Top Gun: Maverick takes place 30 years after the original, and sees the return of Cruise as the titular character
