The former Co-Directors of Together for Yes say they're "honoured" to named be on The 'TIME 100' list.

The list recognises the activism, innovation and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals.

Grainne Griffin, Orla O'Connor, and Ailbhe Smyth have been recognised for their work in encouraging Ireland to Repeal the Eighth Amendment.

They are included in the Icons section, alongside people like Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga and Spike Lee.

Oscar nominated actress Ruth Negga told Time their courageousness "will be an inspiration for generations to come".

Ailbhe Smyth said their inclusion on the list "is evidence of the significant  international ‘ripple’ impact of the Together for Yes campaign".

She said:

"In repealing the Eighth Amendment, Ireland bucked a trend".

Ailbhe hopes that TIME sharing Ireland's story will help "inspire those fighting for reproductive rights worldwide".

Orla O’Connor described the 2018 referendum as:

"A moment in time when, led by women, our nation collectively stood up, and rejected a cruel past, where thousands of women were subjected – unnecessarily – to ill-health, shame, distress and judgement".

Grainne Griffin said:

"This was a movement that really demonstrated the extent to which organised individuals can shape and influence the world we live in".

TIME Editor-in-Chief Edward Felsenthal has described the 100 List as "a designation of individuals whose time, in our estimation, is now".

"The TIME 100 isn’t a measure of power, though many on the list wield it.  Nor is it a collection of milestones accumulated.  As our staff considers candidates, we often find ourselves wowed by those with stunning lifetime achievements", he said.
