Survivors of a US shopping mall shooting are being treated in hospital.
Eight people were shot dead when a man stepped out of a car and randomly opened fire.
Seven others were injured, three critically, ranging in age from 5 years old to 61.
A police officer who just happened to be close-by shot the man dead.
Keith Self, a Republican whose congressional district includes Allen, said the shooting could have been worse if not for the quick response by law enforcement to the gunfire:
We will never know how many lives were saved by the swift actions of our first responders.
The attack is one of at least 199 mass shootings this year in the US.
