A temporary swimming ban is in place at Velvet Strand in Portmarnock in Dublin.
Fingal County Council says swimming is banned for four days due to the possible effect on water quality of stormwater overflow, believed to be caused by heavy rain.
A water sample will be taken tomorrow and the ban will be reviewed on Saturday.
The beach remains open but people are urged to respect the 'Do Not Swim' notice.
