The Taoiseach's attending GamerFest in the RDS today.
This afternoon. he will be meeting a stakeholders in the gaming industry including creators, developers, designers, and aspiring professional gamers.
The economic growth of the sector and the future of gaming both in Ireland and internationally will be on the agenda.
Speaking before the event, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says: “I am delighted to attend this year’s summer GamerFest.
"Since its establishment in 2017, GamerFest has created a diverse and welcoming community of gaming lovers of all age groups.
“The gaming industry in Ireland has gone from strength to strength in recent years with the creation of many new jobs and career paths.
"We expect to see the industry continue to grow in the next few years, further contributing to our overall economy and strengthening Ireland’s position in the global gaming sector.”

GamerFest CEO Stuart Dempsey says: “We are delighted to welcome The Taoiseach to this year’s GamerFest. Over the last number of years we have seen strong growth in the gaming industry with the creation of new jobs and new gaming studios.

New 'Industry Zone' for careers and education
This year, GamerFest is also launching the ‘Industry Zone’ supported by Enterprise Ireland.
It allows visitors to explore the educational and career opportunities within the domestic and international gaming sectors.
Black Shamrock Studio and Pulse College will be at the event offering educational advice, and giving tips to those looking to pursue a career in the gaming industry.
The GamerFest weekend will feature the latest gaming releases, VR gaming, esports, gaming challenges.
