A Dublin woman who shared a photo on Facebook of the two boys who murdered Ana Kriègel has received an 18-month prison sentence, which was suspended in full.

Louise Heaney, a 49-year-old mother-of-three with an address in Killinarden Heights, Tallaght, sent the image to about ten people on Facebook Messenger.

The boys’ identities are forever protected by law because they were under 18 when they murdered Ana Kriègel in May 2018.

They were just 13 years old at the time.

Throughout the high-profile murder trial that followed, they were referred to by the media as BOY A and BOY B.

In the wake of their convictions in 2019, a photo of them emerged online. They were circled in the image with the letters A and B next to them.

Louise Heaney came across the photo in the comments section of an online article. She shared it privately with about ten people through Facebook Messenger.

When asked why she did it, she said it was 'emotionally driven.'

Judge Martin Nolan described what she did as a 'gross violation' of a court order.

In deciding to fully suspend her 18-month sentence for identifying the boys, he said it may have been a different outcome if there had been large scale publication.
