A post-mortem is due to get underway this afternoon on the body of a man, killed in a knife attack in Tallaght.
A man has been arrested following the attack in Kiltalown Way yesterday.
Gardai say the victim, a man in his 30s, had been drinking heavily at a house in the estate.
ItÂ’s believed he was stabbed after a row broke out with another man and managed to stagger out of the house to raise the alarm.
Gardai arrived at around 6.40 yesterday evening and the victim was rushed to Tallaght Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Charlie OÂ’Connor says itÂ’s sad that what should have been a day of celebration for the west Dublin estate ended in tragedy.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is being held at Tallaght Garda Station for questioning.
Meanwhile, a knife believed to have been used in this killing has been recovered and a technical examination is also underway at the scene.
A post-mortem will take place later to establish exactly how the victim died.
