Dublin City Council has given the green light for a €100 million re-development of Stephen's Green Shopping Centre.

DTDL Limited has been granted planning permission, after scaling back previous plans for the project.

A planner's report acknowledged the existing building is a local landmark, but noted it's not a protected structure.

The plans include offices, a cinema and a gallery.
However, drawings of the proposed new look for the building have been heavily criticised online.

Local councillor Mannix Flynn claims the proposed re-development doesn't bring anything to the area.
He says plenty of locals sent submissions to the Council to outline their concerns;
"It doesn't actually bring anything to the neighbourhood. It doesn't bring anything to the streetscape of South King Street or even Lower Mercer Street."
"The area itself itself is just chocka-block with cars and car parking and multi-storey car parks."
