Glenn Whelan and Wes Hoolahan are both big doubts for Martin O’Neill ahead of next month's Euro 2016 qualifier away to Scotland.
Whelan picked up a knee injury during Ireland's 1-1 draw away to Germany last week.
He was forced off early in the second half as a result of the knock.
Meanwhile, Hoolahan damaged ankle ligaments playing for Norwich in their loss to Fulham at the weekend.
Both of the players had scans on their injuries, with their respective clubs awaiting the results those.
But the prognosis is that they are both doubtful for the Glasgow clash next month.
It comes as both Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy returned to action for Everton on Saturday.
Both missed Ireland's recent Euro qualifiers through injury.
