WATCH: Irish goals not enough for Newcastle at 5-star Leeds

Leeds United brought their losing run in the Premier League to a spectacular end at Elland Road.

A long-range effort from Jack Harrison was the highlight of a 5-2 win at home to Newcastle United.

The more pessimistic Leeds fan would have been forgiven for thinking a third consecutive defeat was on the way when Republic of Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick fired Newcastle into a 26th minute lead.

But a fortuitous Patrick Bamford header had achieved parity for the hosts within nine minutes.

Leeds were ahead for the first time in the game just after the hour mark when some brilliant Harrison control led to a cross for Rodrigo to nod past Karl Darlow.

Another header brought Newcastle level - this time Ciaran Clark powered a header beyond Illan Meslier.

But from there, Marcelo Bielsa's side put the hammer down.

Stuart Dallas made it 3-2 with thirteen minutes remaining, while Ezgjan Alioski added a fourth before Harrison's excellent fifth put the cap on it for Leeds.

It's the first time since 2003 that the Yorkshire giants have scored five goals in a Premier League game and sees them move eight points clear of the relegation zone.
