There was more bad news today for David Moyes as his star striker Robin Van Persie has been ruled out for a month today after picking up a thigh strain.
The 30 year old injured himself as he took a corner on Tuesday evening against Shakhtar Donetsk.
"It's unfortunate," said boss David Moyes. "Our record is good with Wayne Rooney and Robin in the team. We've not had them for quite a period recently."
Amazingly, Van Persie could miss nine games, as the busy Christmas period begins this week.
The Dutchman will hope to return to the side by January 19th as United travel to Chelsea.
The current league champions have lost their last two Premier League games, and will now be relying heavily on Wayne Rooney to score the goals to propel them up the table.
