Manchester United have opened negotiations with Wayne Rooney over a new contract that could keep him at Old Trafford for the remainder of his career.
While David Moyes is looking to bolster his squad, it seems keeping Rooney is top of his list of priorities. The 28 year old has been linked with a move to Chelsea a number of times in the last 12 months, but Moyes is desperate to keep the England International, and the new deal would make him the highest paid player in United's history.
There is still 18 months on his current £250,000 a week deal.
Rooney scored 11 goals in 24 games for United this season before being sidelined by an injury which has kept him out since 1 January.
