Manchester United will now have to wait until next week before they can officially call Louis van Gaal their manager. We were expecting confirmation today that van Gaal was the next United boss but United will postpone an announcement until next week in order to respect preparations for Holland's friendly against Ecuador in Amsterdam on Saturday. The 62-year-old is set become manager at Old Trafford as replacement for the sacked David Moyes but both parties have opted to shelve plans to confirm his appointment until after the weekend fixture against fellow World Cup qualifiers Ecuador. Ryan Giggs is expected to be involved in a senior role under Van Gaal after holding talks with the incoming manager in Holland yesterday.
