In the latest twist in the David Moyes saga, Manchester United have come out publicly to defend the way they dismissed the Scot.
League Managers Association chief executive Richard Bevan had accused United of handling Moyes's sacking "in an unprofessional manner"
Bevan said the LMA was very disappointed with the nature of the departure, and that they had to read reports about the sacking before David had been spoken to.
But a Manchester United spokesman has hit back claiming, "We do not accept that it was handled in an unprofessional manner. The decision was not taken until late on Monday night, and was communicated face-to-face first thing on Tuesday morning."
Louis Van Gaal is currently the favourite with the bookies to replace Moyes in the Old Trafford hot seat.
