On the back of a twelve point defeat of Carlow in Portlaoise on Saturday evening, Johnny Cooper, Jack McCaffrey and Ciarán Kilkenny make the GAA team of the week.

Kilkenny slotted three points from midfield while McCaffrey got two from half back. Johnny Cooper kept the Carlow threat at bay, only surrendering seven points over the 70 minutes in which the Boys in Blue prevailed on a final score of 0-19 to 0-07.

Jim Gavin's men now turn their attention to the winners of Offaly and Westmeath in three weeks' time.

Kildare are the best represented team this week with four players. Meath and Down share three apiece while Carlow's Seán Murphy and Louth's shot-stopper Craig Lynch also make the team.
