Team 33: What's the soccer scene like in Canada?

There's no doubt that ice hockey is the No 1 sport over in Canada.

But where does football (or soccer to a North American audience) fit in?

This week on Team 33, we were joined by our old friend Cian Roche who moved to Vancouver six months ago and has taken in the local soccer culture.

At the highest level below the Canadian national team, Canada is represented in Major League Soccer by three franchises: Vancouver Whitecaps, current MLS champions Toronto FC and Montreal Impact where Didier Drogba briefly played.

So from media coverage to the place these three sides - the historic Vancouver in particular - occupy in the minds of soccer followers in Canada, Cian gave us an insight on a scene that often flies under the radar when we think of global soccer.
