Sky Sports subscribers will be able to get BT Sport as part of their package from next summer.
eir Sport had previously acted as the platform in which BT Sport channels was accessible to Irish audiences.
The British broadcasters though have come together to agree an exclusive distribution partnership in Ireland which will deliver Sky Sports and BT Sport through a single Sky TV subscription.
It mirrors a previously announced agreement between the companies which allows UK BT customers access to Now TV channels including Sky Atlantic, Sky One, Sky Living, Sky Sports channels and Sky Cinema.
The deal will grant sports fans Ireland access to Premier League, Champions League and Europa League football, as well as Heineken Champions Cup all under the one subscription for the first time.
BT Sport Channels have previously been distributed, as they are for the remainder of this football and rugby season as part of the eir Sport package.
Commenting on the announcement JD Buckley, MD of Sky Ireland, said, "This is fantastic news for Sky customers in Ireland who will now be able to access all matches on Sky and BT channels from the Premier League, Champions League and Heineken Champions Cup rugby directly with a single Sky TV subscription."
Stephen van Rooyen, Sky's UK chief executive, said: “With NOW TV at the heart of BT’s TV offering, Sky’s TV entertainment brands will be available to all UK consumers through every major pay TV service, and we also open up a new revenue stream for our business.”
