Ireland could be without Johnny Sexton for their opening November International against South Africa.
The out half fractured his jaw while playing for Racing Metro at the weekend.
Sexton suffered a similar injury before, and is now in a race against the clock as he fights to get back to play the Springboks.
That game takes place at the Aviva on November the 8th, exactly nine weeks after the injury.
