Joe Schmidt doesn't expect Jonny Sexton to return home anytime soon.

The Irish outhalf has insisted he's happy playing with Racing Metro in the French Top 14 despite rumours linking him with an early return to Leinster.

The Irish coach, basking in the afterglow of the weekend's Six Nations success, admitted that he would love to see Sexton back with Leinster.

"It'd be great to have Jonathan back in the country, I don't think I've ever made any debate of that."

However Schmidt explained why he doesn't expect to see the former Leinster kicking king back at the RDS before the end of his current deal which runs until the summer of 2015.

"I think one of the problems with that (an early exit from France) is that Jonny's pretty much a man of his word and he's committed to Racing and it would be pretty hard to see him coming out of there."

In other rugby news; former Ireland scrum-half Peter Stringer has signed a new one-year contract with Bath

Stringer's been at the Premiership club since January 2013 after initially arriving on loan from Munster.
