Its official – the game is gone, at least according to Roy Keane.
The former Manchester United captain believes the transfer fees no being commanded for average players is “mind boggling”.
Keane was asked to place valuation on some of his former teammates based on today’s market value:
“Ruud would be worth about a billion, Beckham, a billion. Giggsy, two billion,” said Keane.
Keane even revealed his thoughts on what he as a player would’ve been worth in today’s market jokingly saying “£3.75million”.
The figure cited by Keane was the precise amount Manchester United paid Nottingham Forest to sign the Cork native in 1993.

“It's mind-boggling, it really is. The figures out there now for players it's not the player's fault, it's the market, the market value of players.
“Especially for the average players. If ever there's a time to be a professional footballer, it's now - average players are going for £35m. My goodness.
“The really brilliant players are going for big money. When average players are going for £30m-£40m, it does make you scratch your head."
Jon Walters remains the Republic of Ireland main injury concern ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The Burnley front man was present for the warm-up, but sat out the main session.
The squad will train tomorrow before heading for Tbilisi on Thursday to play Georgia on Saturday.
