It's advantage Dundalk after the first leg of their Setanta Sports Cup semi final. Stephen Kenny's side beat Shamrock Rovers 2-1 at Tallaght Stadium to give them the edge heading into the return leg at Oriel Park. Richie Towell scored two first half penalties to put holders Rovers under pressure and that came after playing in Sligo on Saturday night. Dundalk started much the better, taking a deserved lead on 11 minutes. Towell's first penalty came after Rovers keeper Craig Hyland was fortunate only to receive a yellow card for taking down John Mountney who had run clean through onto Stephen O’Donnell's ball. Dundalk doubled their advantage from a second spot kick on 33 minutes when Chris Shields found Mountney on the right and he was tripped by Rovers captain Conor Kenna. Eamon Zayed kept the tie alive for the return at Oriel Park on April 15 when he pulled a goal back for Rovers on 84 minutes. Tonight St. Pats are away to Sligo Rovers in the first leg of the other semi final.
