Aiden McGeady was the hero for the Boys in Green, scoring a brace, including a last minute winner, as Ireland beat Georgia 2-1.
The Everton winger gave Martin O’Neill’s side the lead after 23 minutes with a composed finished from a fine Irish move.
The hosts replied on 38 minutes thanks to a terrific strike from Tornike Okriashvili.
But McGeady struck again in the last minute, with a wonderful curling strike from 18 yards out, so secure victory in O’Neill’s first competitive game in charge.
It’s a solid start for the Boys in Green, as they look to reach Euro 2016 in France.
Also in Ireland Group D, Poland thrashed Gibraltar 7-0 away, to move top of the group after the opening game.
And Germany edged out Scotland 2-1 at home in their Group D Clash.
