Charlie Redmond thinks there is more to Paul Galvin's retirement than meets the eye.
Kerry boss Eamon Fitzmaurice broke the news after his side's defeat to Dublin in the Allianz Football League last night.
In his regular slot on Now That's What I Call Sport on 98FM, Redmond spoke of his surprise at not seeing Galvin in action; "His name was actually in the programme last night and I was wondering why he wasn't playing."
"He's a fantastic footballer and for him to be retiring at such a young age, when he has so much more to give, is quite bewildering. You've got to think something may have happened in the background."
The Dubs legend went on to praise the Kerryman who won 4 All-Ireland titles, 7 Munster titles and 3 All-Stars with his county; "As a Dublin footballer and a GAA supporter, all I can do is thank him for all he has done for GAA. A lot of people hated him, a lot of people liked him but he was a great footballer. He wore his heart on his sleeve and he gave everything he could for that jersey and the Kingdom."
