Jason Quigley's guaranteed a bronze medal at the World Championships in Kazakhstan. The Donegal middleweight beat Hungary's Zoltan Harsca on a unanimous decision in today's quarter-final. All three judges gave it to the Finn Valley clubman 30-27 across the board after three, three minute rounds. Quigley's unbeaten in 31 fights now he has secured Ireland's 8th World Championship medal since the inaugural tournament in 1974. He'll now meet Russia's Artem Chebotarev in Friday's semi-final.

There was no joy for Michael Conlon and Tommy McCarthy who were both beaten in the last 8. Conlan lost out in his bid for at least a bronze medal after dropping a unanimous decision to Russia’s Vladimir Nikitin. McCarthy, meanwhile, was unlucky to loose out on a split decision to Argentina’s Yamil Peralta.

Paddy Barnes and Joe Ward will be in action this afternoon.
