Bray Wanderers midfielder John Sullivan has hit out at the drama at the club in recent weeks.
Two very strange statements were released by the club earlier this week, comparing Wicklow to being “the North Korea of Ireland for business”.
Sullivan joined Jamie Moore on 98FM’s Now That’s What I Call Sport this morning, to give insight into what’s been going on at the club.
He described their season as “a rollercoaster”, with Bray’s great start to the season taken a sour turn in recent weeks.
“The start of the season was amazing it was an uphill rollercoaster, it was amazing. When I say rollercoaster I mean there’s always a downside to it.”
The changes in the club, where a new chairman has come in, have come at a time where the club have suffered four defeats in a row.
“The last four defeats for us doesn’t help the situation, as a player at Bray, heads are all over the place at the moment”.
The financial situation has just been cleared, with the club insisting players’ wages will now be paid, but that hasn’t stopped certain players trying to make a move to a different club.
“Some of the players are trying to get out of the transfer window if they can but the other question is will the club let them? I don’t know”
Sullivan addressed the outlandish statements released by both the club and new chairman Gerry Mulvey, as he brought up the 1916 Rising, Conor McGregor...and North Korea.
However he doesn’t believe it was the new chairman Gerry Mulvey.
“I know Gerry. I have spoken to him and I don’t believe it is something he would do”.
John said his and the Bray players mindset is now switched to focusing on training, getting back to winning ways and creeping back up the table with hopes on a move to a new club next year in his sights.
“Hopefully we do enough for Bray Wanderers, for ourselves and the shirts we put on, to get clubs for next year”.
