Odion Ighalo looks set to leave Manchester United and return to the Chinese Super League when his loan spell ends next week.
The Red Devils have been unable to reach an agreement with Shanghai Shenhua to extend the Nigerian forward's loan agreement.
“Seeing the club from the outside you don't know how big it is," the 30-year-old told United's official website last month. "But when you are inside you know how big the club is.
“I am inspired by the way the club is structured, I am inspired by the direction of the club, I am inspired by the development of the young players and how they are coming through from the grassroots to the first team.
“I am inspired by a lot of things at United, I am really inspired and I am looking forward to spending more time with the team.”
Ighalo impressed in his short spell at Old Trafford, scoring four goals in five games before the pandemic and Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had hinted that he wanted Ighalo to stay beyond June.
“Odion has done really well – we need those qualities for next season so let’s see," the United boss said in March when asked about the possibility of the deal being made permanent.
