Neymar wants to return to Barcelona, that's according to vice president at the Catalan giants Jordi Cardoner.
The 27-year old is believed to want a move away from Paris Saint-Germain, the club he joined from Barcelona in the summer of 2017 for €222m. Reports that a return to the Camp Nou is close have been circulating for the past few weeks, with the Catalan daily paper, Sport claiming that there was a "verbal agreement" over a transfer.
Cardoner was quizzed about a Neymar return, and poured some cold water on the notion of a deal being close, "The correct thing is to say that Neymar wants to return to Barcelona, but I do not agree that Barcelona worry about signing Neymar, this is not on the table.
The head of Barcelona's steering committee says they're currently concentrating on getting players they don't want out the door, "We are in a process of departures, it is a period that expires on the 30th of this month.
"We are not recruiting anyone at the moment, let alone that player with whom we have not been in touch."
This week alone has seen goalkeeper Jasper Cillessan leave for Valencia (with Neto going the other way), while Everton completed the permanent signing of Andre Gomes.
Neymar is believed to be unsettled in the French capital after just two-seasons, with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi all but holding the door ajar for the 27-year old, saying recently, "Nobody forced him to sign here. Nobody pushed him to.
"He came with a fully understanding of the cause to sign up to a project."
It seems contentious exits are par for the course for Neymar, with his departure from the Camp Nou still gnawing at Cardoner, "There are many things about his departure that I did not like, many things.
"There are claims that we have signed Neymar. We have not signed anyone. We have not kept in touch with him. He and many more want to play for Barcelona.
"Neymar is a great player, but the circumstances of how he left also have to be evaluated to see if this can become a reality."
