David Moyes sounded far from convincing when asked if he could fire up his troops ahead of their massive Champions League challenge at home to Greek champs Olympiakos tomorrow night.

The Manchester United boss needs to engineer a plan to overcome a 2-0 first leg deficit to progress to the quarter-finals but was quick to point out that it's rarely been done.

"We will try and do that. I was looking back, I think it's only twice Manchester United have done it. I think 1984 was the recent one against Barcelona, I think Robbo (Bryan Robson) got two goals, by all accounts that night. So it's not something that's happened a lot but it's something that we believe we have to try and make happen."

If United were to fall at the last 16 hurdle to a very average Greek side, just days after being humiliated at Old Trafford against arch-rivals Liverpool, Moyes' future at Old Trafford would look pretty bleak.

The Scot was asked if he has been giving any assurances by the club's American owners, the Glazer family.

"The biggest assurance is they let me get on with the job. We never discuss it, we talk about the future."

Moyes truly believes he will at least see out the entirety of his current contract which he signed just last summer.

"We're making big plans for years going forward, that's why it's a six-year contract because this club is not a club that works on short-term vision, it works on a long-term vision."

Moyes feels that a win tomorrow night would be just the lift that the club needs.

"The most important thing just now is to get the Olympiakos game played. Hopefully get through in that competition. If we can it would be a massive lift for us. We know we've got ourselves in a poor position being two-nil down but we've got a lot of belief and we've got to try and make it show and play well in the game."
