Few players have bridged the divide between Manchester United and Liverpool in recent years.
But one of those who did - albeit indirectly - was Michael Owen who started his career at Liverpool before book-ending it with Manchester United, either side of spells at Real Madrid and Newcastle United.
The former England striker joined Joe in studio this week and spoke about how close he came to rejoining Liverpool before Newcastle bid for him as he left Real Madrid.
"As soon as I knew I was coming back, I was on the phone to Rafa Benitez, we met, we did this, we did that. We agreed. Liverpool said they'd pay X amount," he said.
"Then Newcastle came into the party and just offered £6 million more than Liverpool and Liverpool couldn't budge and that was fair enough because they'd sold me for £8 million. So Real Madrid said, 'You're either staying here or you're going to Newcastle' to put it mildly and Liverpool couldn't budge. I had no option."
Moving to Man United later on in his career did lead to resentment from some Liverpool supporters but Owen has no regrets about that transfer.
"Of course I sat there thinking, 'This is going to ruin a lot of what I've done in some people's eyes.' Then again, you're not too old and you're going to be playing in the Champions League. You might as well retire if you're going to say 'no' to Manchester United. This is a great club with players that I played with for years and years with England - great lads - under a manager that was really successful," he said, adding that footballers are like employees in any other industry and that he "would have walked to Liverpool anytime" and re-joined if that had been a possibility and that it "hurts" to face stick from Reds fans.
Michael Owen was in Dublin at an event hosted by Cadbury, Official Snack Partner to the Premier League. The 2017/18 season marked the first year of Cadbury's three-year partnership.
