Michael McKillop ended an injury interrupted year by overcoming the odds and successfully defending his Paralympic crown.
The Antrim man took Gold in the 1500m in a time of 4:12.11, he had plenty of time to spare as he sauntered across the line ahead of Liam Stanley of Canada.
Madjid Djemai took an early lead in the race but it was a patient performance from McKillop who closed the gap at the beginning of the penultimate lap.
With 600m to go with Stanley the only competitor to stay with the Antrim man. He eased away from the Canadian in the final 200m to cruise to victory.
Stanley took silver, but he four seconds behind the Irishman, with Madjid Djemai claiming the bronze.
The Gold adds to an impressive haul of titles, he already is the holder of medals for the 800m and 1,500m from London 2012, and a 800m gold from the Beijing games in 2008.
