There was another shock at the Crucible this afternoon as four-time champion John Higgins was sent crashing out of the World Championships by fellow Scot Alan McManus.
It's the first time McManus has progressed to the last-16 since 2005 and follows Ding Junhui's surprise exit last night at the hands of Michael Wasley.
Trailing 6-3 from the first session, Higgins fell as far as 8-4 behind and looked dead and buried. But the Wizard of Wishaw weaved some magic to fight back and close the gap to 2 frames at 9-7. However that proved to be as close as he would get as McManus won the 17th frame to set-up a golden oldie semi-final.
43-year-old McManus will meet the Darling of Dublin Ken Doherty who booked his place in the second round at the tender age of 44 after a first round win against Stuart Bingham at the weekend. The pair clash this Friday in the afternoon session at 2:30.
