Rory McIlroy has claimed the Players Championship at Wentworth in dramatic style.
The former World number one birdied five of the back nine holes today to finish the tournament on 14 under par.
Irishman Shane Lowry finished in second place, just one stroke behind McIlroy. Lowry also hit five birdies on the back nine, but also had a bogey and a double bogey.
Lowry was leading by two shots with just four holes to play, but it was McIlroy who held his nerve on the final few holes.
Thomas Bjorn started the day on 15 under, but shot plus three today to finish in joint third alongside Luke Donald on 12 under.
