Ireland's Tommy McCarthy has won his preliminary round bout at the World Amateur Boxing Championships in Kazakhstan.
The Belfast heavyweight was the only member of the Irish squad in action today but was more than a match for his Bulgarian opponent, Nikolay Mutavski in a comprehensive 3-0 victory.
McCarthy will now have to face Canadian fighter Samir El-Mais, who was given a bye into the last-32 after being ranked as the 10th seed in the draw.
