Martin O’Neill could remain as Republic of Ireland manager for at least another two years.

The FAI is prepared to offer O'Neill and Roy Keane a new contract even if Ireland fail to qualify for the World Cup according to reports in The Times.

Ireland must beat Moldova and Wales to have any hope of making a play off.

They lost 1-0 to Serbia on Tuesday night. They began the campaign with 4 wins and a draw but have stuttered of late.

They are winless in 5 games, although 4 of them have been draws.

Ireland have scored just two goals at home in qualifying; only Faroe Islands, Latvia, San Marino, and Liechtenstein have fewer.

An FAI insider quoted by ‘The Times’ says the association continue to back the manager and are set to reward him with a new contract regardless of the outcome of the campaign.
