Manchester City may only be permitted to name a 21-man squad for the Champions League next season instead of the regulation 25. It's one part of the punishment the club look to be facing for breaking UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations.

They could also be hit with a massive fine of over €60 million. UEFA and City have yet to comment officially with confirmation of the sanctions expected later in the week. City manager Manuel Pellegrini was reluctant to make any comments on the news today.

"I don't know about that, I don't if it's official news of UEFA or just rumours. It's not official, I have nothing more to say."

Celtic boss Neil Lennon who started his professional playing career at City welcomes any punishment for the clubs who break UEFA's spending rules.

"It gets a bit obscene, the money that is spent and the way it's handled and sometimes the waywardness of the way the money is spent as well. So I'm glad that UEFA are having a really good look at it now because there are a lot of clubs who do cut their cloth accordingly and run the business side of things the right way."
