Manchester City are out of the Champions League but they can hold their heads high after a decent performance against Barcelona in this round of 16 second leg at the Nou Camp.
City were beaten 2-1 on the night and went out 4-1 on aggregate.
After a scoreless first half which should have seen Barca awarded a penalty after Joleon Lescott fouled Lionel Messi and Neymar had seen a curling effort headed off the line by Fernandinho, the home side traded blows with City after the interval.
The little Argentinian genius hit a post with keeper Hoe Hart a bemused spectator before City sub Edin Dzeko crashed in a header which produced the save of the match from Victor Valdes.
But it wasn't long afterwards when Barca took the lead with Messi taking advantage of a Lescott mistake to slot home with his left foot.
The tie was then completely over when Pablo Zabaleta was sent off when receiving a second yellow card for dissent after City were denied a blatant penalty when Dzeko was fouled by Gerard Pique.
The Sky Blues kept going till the end with skipper Vincent Kompany slotting home from a corner.
But it was Champions League quarter finalists Barca who had the last laugh with Dani Alves netting an injury time winner.
