The Blues only needed a draw, but their supporters were getting nervy as it was still 0-0 after 35 minutes.
Samir Nasri broke the deadlock after 40 minutes, much to the relief of the home supporters.
Liverpool needed to beat Newcastle at Anfield, and hope that West Ham would claim all three points away to City. But the Reds went 1-0 down early on through an own goal from Martin Skrtel as all things seemed to go to plan for City.
Vincent Kompany doubled City's lead just after half time to put one hand on the title.
Liverpool hit a quick fire double through Daniel Agger and Daniel Sturridge to take a 2-1 lead, but it wasn't enough.
City played out the final 20 minutes with ease before lifting the title once again.
