Liverpool and Manchester United will be feeling confident this evening after they were drawn in pretty easy groups in this season's Champions League.

United boss Jose Mourinho's biggest headache will be transporting his players to and from Moscow with CSKA the team drawn from pot 4 in their Group A.

The top seed in that group are Portuguese champions Benfica while Swiss club Basel should also prove an easy scalp for the Red Devils.

The top team drawn in Group E with the Merseysiders are Spartak Moscow, while they will also fancy their chances against last season's fourth placed La Liga side, Sevilla and Slovenian minnows, Maribor.

In the year Celtic celebrate the 50th anniversary of their only European Cup win, the Hoops have been pitted against five-time champions Bayern Munich and French big spenders Paris Saint Germain.

The Hoops have caused some big upsets in recent years in European football's biggest competition but if they have to settle for third place in the group, and a place in the Europa League, they could do worse than a tussle against Belgian champs, Anderlecht.

Wembley tenants Spurs will take on the reigning European champions Real Madrid in Group H, as well as Borussia Dortmund and APOEL Nicosia.

Chelsea's group is made all the more interesting by the fact that they have drawn the former club of their want-away striker Diego Costa, Atletico Madrid, where the Spain international is hoping to return to.

Roma and Qarabag are the other clubs in that Group C.

Manchester City will be very happy with their trio of opponents in Group F; Shaktar Donetsk and Feynoord, although Napoli have the potential to cause problems this season.

2015 finalists Barcelona and Juventus will meet again in Group D along with Olympiacos and Sporting CP while in Group G last season's beaten finalists Monaco come up against Porto, Besiktas and German dangermen Leipzig.
