Liverpool got their Champions League Group B campaign off to a winning start last night- but only just.
They needed a 93rd minute penalty from Captain Steven Gerrard to help them to a 2-1 win over Bulgarian minnows Ludogorets at Anfield.
All three goals came in the last ten minutes, as Liverpool made their first appearance in the Champions League in five years.
Mario Balotelli scored the opener with his first goal for the club in the 82nd minute.
The Bulgarians deservedly levelled the game right on 90 minutes.
But Gerrard saved Liverpool's blushes with the injury time penalty after Javi Manquillo was judged to have been taken down in the box.
