Frank Lampard’s loan move to Manchester City has been confirmed.
The former Chelsea star moves to the Premier League champions until next January from sister club New York City, whose season doesn't begin until spring 2015.
The England international has described the move as a “fantastic opportunity”, adding “This is a new chapter of my career and I'm really excited about the experience”.
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini said that Lampard is “a world class midfielder” and he was “really pleased that we'll be able to have him with us for the first half of our season and help prepare him for his new challenge."
Lampard joined Chelsea from West Ham in 2001 and went on to become the club's record goalscorer with 211 goals in 649 appearances.
He will be available for all domestic and European games, and could even feature in Sunday's Community Shield clash at Wembley against Arsenal.
