Second half goals from John Power and Richie Power gave the Cats a 6 point lead mid way through the second half.
Tipp fought back brilliantly, in a game that was nip and tuck thoughout, but just couldn't find another gear.
Brian Cody and Henry Shefflin have now won ten All-Ireland titles.
