David Moran has yet to hit 30 - he's nearly there at 29 - but he's already being made to feel like an elder statesman within the Kerry ranks.

As the younger generation of players in the Kingdom begin to supplement the senior panel, the realisation that he's lining out with lads who wouldn't rememberm even a tiny part of the last century dawns on him as one anecdote he told Joe sums it up.

"We were at a training camp last year and it was myself and Kieran Donaghy," said Moran as he joined Joe our studio for an in-depth chat.

"Jason Foley, who was one of the young guys, and there was a documentary about Princess Diana and he was looking at it and he'd never heard of this person before and we were saying, 'How do you mean?' He just said, 'This is an unbelievable story'.

"And then you had a situation where a few of the lads weren't around for the 1997 [All Ireland] final!"

One young player of whom much is expected is Kerry Minor sensation David Clifford who is training with the seniors.

"He's a very special player but as I was alluding to earlier, he needs a chance. The expectation on him at the moment is just phenomenal - very unfair on him," said Moran, adding that patience is needed.

He also discussed why NBA basketball great LeBron James, billionaire businessman and philanthropist Warren Buffett and comedian Tommy Tiernan would be his dream dinner party guests, speaking about Buffett in particular.

"He's hugely successful. I read his book and he was brilliant and off-the-wall at the same time. It's a good read," said Moran.

"He was slightly recluse and his social skills wouldn't have been huge and he went on to build such a huge empire."
