Roy Keane has blasted the Manchester United players after the sacking of David Moyes. The former Ireland and Man U skipper was asked about the Scot's dismissal ahead of ITV's coverage of the Champions League semi-final between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea. Keane took the opportunity to have a pop at the current squad.
"I think some of the players should be ashamed of themselves. I think they really let him down. You still need people around you to help you in every way they can. I don’t think he’s had that support, particularly from the players."
The powers that be at Old Trafford didn't escape a tongue-lashing from the Cork man.
“I think the chief executive (Ed Woodward) didn’t get the deals done that he wanted. A lot of negativity. They had a slow start, they had no momentum. And I think its a shame, he should have been given more time."
Surprisingly former boss Alex Ferguson escaped any criticism from his former lieutenant considering it was he who famously handed the reins to Moyes last year.
"I wouldn’t say it was his pick. He put his name forward and the club had to eventually make a decision. You obviously can’t be too critical of Alex Ferguson."
Meanwhile Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has joined Borussia Dortmund's Jurgen Klopp in ruling himself out of the running for the vacancy at Old Trafford.
